what this can do.
FileUp24’s local tools process files inside your browser tab. This page lists exactly what the application depends on, what it cannot do, and how to reach us when something breaks. No security claim here goes beyond what the code demonstrably does.
Processing model
The website’s local tools process selected documents in your browser. Account requests go to Supabase Auth, and site analytics makes separate network requests. Remote MCP clients send file bytes to the FileUp24 server; that interface is not browser-local. You can inspect a specific tool’s requests with DevTools → Network.
What FileUp24 depends on
pdf-lib 1.17. Builds and edits PDF documents in the browser (merge, split, watermark, black-out, re-save).
pdfjs-dist 4.10. Renders and reads PDF pages locally (previews, PDF→JPG, text extraction). Worker served from this site.
heic2any 0.0.4. Decodes iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos in the browser.
Custom parsers. Spreadsheet (XLSX/CSV), DOCX/PPTX text extraction and ZIP writing are first-party code in this repository.
Next.js 15 / React 18. Application framework. Public tool pages use browser-side processors; account and remote MCP routes use server functionality.
Supabase Auth and Google Analytics. Optional account services and site analytics make network requests separately from browser-local file processing.
Known limitations — read before relying on a tool
Browser memory is the ceiling. Local tool processing runs in this tab, so very large files can fail. Office archive extraction is limited to 64 MB per entry and 128 MB total; XLSX processing also limits XML parts, rows and materialized cells. Use a smaller document when a limit is reached.
Black Out is not legal redaction. The Black Out PDF Page tool covers a page visually. Text underneath may remain extractable. Do not use it to remove confidential or regulated information.
Sign PDF is an image stamp. It places a drawn signature picture. It is not a certificate-based cryptographic signature and does not verify signer identity.
Office conversions are text-only. PDF↔Word/Excel/PowerPoint tools extract readable text. Images, tables, fonts and layout are not preserved.
Password-protected PDFs. Protect PDF and Unlock PDF support the encryption formats listed on their tool pages. Unlocking requires the password; this is not a password-recovery service.
Re-save PDF is not recovery. It re-writes a PDF that still opens. Files that fail to open cannot be repaired here.
Independent review status
Our repository review and fixture tests cover the implemented local workflows. They do not establish that every input, dependency or deployment is secure. The project has not yet been independently security-audited.
